94% Success Rate

‘Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking’

The largest-ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit was conducted in 1992 and reported in the New Scientist Magazine*.

The report told of a research project to find the most effective way to give up smoking. Frank Schmidt and research student Chockalingam Viswesvaran of the University of Iowa carried out a meta-analysis, statistically combining the results of more than 600 studies covering almost 72,000 people. This was a major breakthrough but unfortunately hasn’t come to the attention of the national press when they give examples of methods of quitting smoking.

Since the studies were based on hypnosis audio tapes and included information from the medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association it was found that hypnosis achieved a very respectable success-rate of between 30%-60%. As you can imagine, if you decide to have personal therapy your chances of stopping smoking are far greater. In fact they can be quadrupled according to other medical research.

94% success rate with over 1,000 smokers

In 1968 Von Dedenroth reported in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis a stop smoking success rate of 94% over an 18-month period with no less than a 1,000 smokers**.

Valerie was very pleased to find that that her Stop Smoking In One Hour technique has similarities to Dedenroth’s work and not surprisingly has been able to reach a comparably high success-rate using advanced techniques and a very concentrated hour of therapy.

Over 20 Years Success

I was the first to coin the phrase Stop Smoking in One Hour with a 95% success-rate in the 80’s and it has since been copied by many a hypnotherapist. In the beginning it was so new to use hypnosis for only one hour for quitting smoking that there was a lot of conflict with other hypnotherapists, but it stood the test of time and is now practiced by many hypnotherapists. I do have a back-up therapy that is included in the price if required but this is rarely needed. Valerie Austin

Not all stop smoking hypnotherapy is the same

It is not just hypnosis that stops a person smoking, but the success rate is also determined by how skilled the hypnotherapist is and what technique they are using.

It should be noted that unless the hypnotherapist is using The Austin Technique they may not be able to achieve such a high success rate. It is difficult for a therapist to achieve and maintain such a high percentage of people quitting and needs the hypnotherapist to be very skilled in the technique.

To achieve the high success rate that Valerie enjoys, the therapist must follow the Austin Technique precisely, without adding to or detracting elements. Each part of the technique is essential to this incredibly powerful and effective therapy. Please contact Valerie if you would like to book a stop smoking treatment with her or one of her elite team of approved therapists.

If you are using audio tapes it is the sound of the person’s voice and the words they use in the stop smoking suggestion that has a very important impact on the outcome. It is for this reason that Valerie designed her special Stop Smoking audio book iPhone app which provides an all-important demonstration of tonality and inflection to achieve the best quality of hypnosis.
